Indiana is one of the top hamburger purchasing states in the Midwest region of the United States. The capital, Indianapolis, makes up about 16% percent of the state’s population. There are about 192 hamburgers eaten per capita annually. This is the 11thlowest in the country. Other than the usual suspects; McDonalds, Burger King, White Castle, Steak N Shake, and Wendy’s, there are very few gourmet burger joints in Indianapolis. Five Guys and the two Sonic locations in the city are very popular and just recently the Jack in the Box franchise has placed a location within the city. These new players are wildey popular, but are located is a way that is inaccessible to the whole of Indianapolis.
